چکیده
This study systematically investigated the effect of organic micropollutants (OMPs) on biofouling in forward osmosis (FO) integrating wastewater treatment and seawater dilution. Synthetic (0.6 M sodium chloride) was used as a draw solution synthetic municipal feed solution. To evaluate impact OMPs replicate parallel study, supplemented with mixture 7 (OMPs-feed) without (control) during 8 batch filtration cycles replacement after each filtration. The FO performance (water flux), development microbial composition properties biofilm layers side membrane were studied. Compared to control OMPs, fed containing showed (i) initially same water flux decline first cycle, (ii) increasing cycle lower (iii) concentrations for total cells, ATP, EPS carbohydrates proteins layers, (iv) diversity community (indicating selective pressure) (v) rejection 6 OMPs. In essence, presence higher rejection, both illustrating better performance. has significant implication optimizing osmotic dilution terms operation rejection.

Composition and variability of biofouling organisms in seawater reverse osmosis desalination plants.
Seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) membrane biofouling remains a common challenge in the desalination industry, but the marine bacterial community that causes membrane fouling is poorly understood. Microbial communities at different stages of treatment processes (intake, cartridge filtration, and SWRO) of a desalination pilot plant were examined by both culture-based and culture-independent approa...

متن کاملForward osmosis: Novel desalination of produced water and fracturing flowback
Treatment and reuse of oil and gas (O&G) production wastewater in a cost-effective and environmentally sound manner is critical for sustainable industrial development and for meeting stringent regulations. High salinity, free and emulsified hydrocarbons, silts and clays released from producing formations, and process additives common in O&G drilling wastewater render many conventional treatment...
متن کاملRemoval of trace organic contaminants by the forward osmosis process
The rejection of trace organic contaminants (TrOCs) by an osmotically driven membrane filtration process was investigated. A set of 40 compounds representing major groups of TrOCs of concern was selected for this study. The rejection of the TrOCs by a commercial cellulose acetate asymmetric forward osmosis membrane, as well as a ''tight'' commercial thin-film composite nanofiltration (NF) membr...
